RHSC Welcomes New Board Members

In June, RHSC had the pleasure of welcoming three new members to its Board of Directors.

Steven Barnett, M.D., is a Professor of Public Health Sciences at the University of Rochester's Rochester Prevention Research Center, also known as the National Center for Deaf Health Research. The mission of the NCDHR is to promote health and prevent disease with populations of Deaf sign language users and people with hearing loss. Among the considerable skills and achievements that make him a great fit for RHSC's board, Dr. Barnett, who has been working with Rochester Deaf communities since 1994, is skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and his research includes collaborating with Deaf communities to adapt measures and interventions to be communication accessible, language congruent, and culturally appropriate.

Board members help guide our nonprofit agency toward a sustainable and successful future through logical, ethical, and legal management of the work, employees, volunteers, policies, and fundraising. Our Board of Directors serve as leadership for Rochester Hearing & Speech Center and helps to advance our mission as a nonprofit, which is helping individuals of all ages connect and engage through "Communication for Life."
