For more than 30 years Katie Ryan has given her all to Rochester Hearing & Speech Center, serving in several different capacities.

 

She began as a temporary employee, doing transcriptionist work and helping out in the finance department and medical records.  She then worked for many years supporting the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) Evaluation Team.  She currently provides administrative support to the President/CEO, Leadership Team and Board of Directors, and is a strong part of the Development and Fundraising Team; and continues to provide some support to the CPSE Evaluation Team. Katie is a wealth of knowledge. She knows and understands the history of the agency and has an inspiring presence threaded throughout much of the work that is done here. 

 

“I love the open, friendly and supportive work atmosphere at Rochester Hearing & Speech Center; it’s diverse but tight-knit. The people here are great, and the agency has been like a second family to me over the many years here. When I was still a temp, and had a couple of different job offers on the table, the choice to go with RHSC was an easy one and one I’ve not regretted. It’s the people that make RHSC what it is,” Katie shared.

 

She is proud to work at an agency that supports others.  She shared that the work RHSC does in children’s development and in helping people hear and communicate better is something anyone would be proud to be part of.  When her own children needed educational and speech-language support, she found out first-hand just how great RHSC clinicians are. “They are so caring and passionate about what they do, and the support staff equally so.” She has always been proud to be part of this great team.  

 

“For me personally,” Katie said, “I support the idea of live, work, play communities and allowing diverse interests to intersect and co-mingle.  Working at RHSC helps fulfill that ideal for me. I live in the neighborhood, work in the neighborhood and play in the neighborhood.  And RHSC is part of the Al Sigl Community of Agencies.  It’s all about community!”
